I have spent the first 3 months of this year getting very excited about Blogs, Web 2.0 and search engines, the reason being because I am a strong believer in using existing technology for furthering my aims… I mean why reinvent the wheel?
Except, this last week I have taken on client who is not really paying me properly, result, I am having to do the web developer work myself. This has been quite an eye opener, in that I really do feel I am going back to basics, rather than using all the various services out there I am immersed in SQL, phpMyAdmin and Dreamweaver. And what a pleasure it is turning out to be.
Project managing sites is not nearly so fun or satisfying, I’ll explain that in my next post, but actually getting down into some code it really good for me… It reminds me of when I used to work into the early hours of the morning, just to get something achieved.
So what is the site. Hungry People is a food take away service, restaurants subscribe, add and manage their menus for a small monthly cost, then punters can order take away based on what they want that evening. no need to trawl the internet, be it Indian, Pizza or both Hungry People can cater. (Yes there is an Indian Pizzeria on the system).
It is very much work in progress. Credit for the design goes entire to Will Collis, but technically it is still very weak so improvements are on the way. Loads of ideas are in place, but now we come back around to Web 2.0.
Yes if anyone wants to take this to the next level it has to go web 2.0. so programmers welcome, but there is no money on this one.
