We’re in big trouble – watch the corporate internet

Okay this is not a new film, and it even has an Addendun, but you got start asking questions. The film I watched is called Zeitgiest and the makers are sufficiently on the hoof as to make it 100% free.

Get past the anti religion, anti bush, anti international bankers and even the pro american themes that run strongly through the entire thing, and also get past the fact the makers are probably so far off the political map that they are nearing Mars. Certainly no ones is going to vote for them (however we said that about the Greens twenty years ago) and it is powerful stuff.

Get past all that and you’re left with a pretty gristly view of the world that is run by a few select american bankers, governments and families. But the question is what does the future hold.

We’ve enetered this recession, money is in very short supply mostly because the banks have been clawing back their loans, governments have been pumping money in, but to who, the banks, it is pay day at a bank at the moment and they are reaping the rewards. They say it will eventually reach the common man – but probably only in the form of more debt.

So what’s next – its the web, internet and technology that are going to be the next major battlefield in the whole world against the few dominate controllers. It is dangerous stuff and a topic I am sure to be returning to over time… but essentially be weary, very very weary, there is something going on that simply is not right.

Fine dis religion, politics and tradition – but in doing so we play into the hands of much larger forces, governments, the corporate internet and big money… I cannot see how we don’t.

We have to start fighting back… Check out this video on YouTube. It gives a glimpse, whether it is true or not, about how big business mussels in on popular services, it accuses Disney of trying to maximise traffic towards themselves. AND IT WORKS – my wife was watching YouTube and all she wanted to see was Britains Got Talent – tons of it, every clip and highlight… the small channels ARE being mussled out.

So how do we fight back… we don’t like the protesters – but they are doing our job for us we have to support them and all their red/green hair. We then need to firmly but surely speak with our feet. Here are a few examples:

  1. We need to get involved in politics, honest people need to get to the top and only by knowing them can we ensure their good behaviour – starting writing to your MP at www.theyworkforyou.com
  2. For those able to – get back to religion – you don’t even have to believe anymore – what is essentially is that you carry the moral message – but you can only do that if you actually pay attention to what the vicars are actually saying.
  3. Return to tradition – buy local – support the milkman and buy your eggs from the local farmer if you can, go to the butcher and local vegetable shop… city dwellers go local, fine do a weekly shop at Tescos, but don’t buy everything from them. It is not for nothing that the government are setting up OfGrocers (the Ofcom for supermarkets).
  4. Go digital – use it – go online – it is the last vestian of true free speech, but you’ll soon realise just how difficult it is to be heard. But it is only through weight of numbers that we can get big business to listen. Blog, Tweet, and speak out. My job is to recommend to busines about how to benefit from these new technolgies – but I do it knowing that Disney will do it 100 times better than I ever could.

If we don’t act now, then watch Zeitgiest and it will give you a pretty acurate view of what might happen to us all.
