7 Proven Ways to Integrate Social Media on your Site
We’re seeing a flurry of Reports and White Papers about where and what we should all be doing on the web these days (from an albeit corporate point of view). This document is one I do recommend you have a jolly good read through. It’s more or less spot on, even if it is going to be tricky to implement in full.
7 Proven Ways to Integrate Social Media on your Site
The following are my notes on the document.
1) Ignore the first – it talks about allowing people easy access to you website and is only relevant if you require some level of ‘account-access’.
2) Create Content that will be shared… tough as nails this one… but without it you’re dead in the water… never has content been as King as it is now… If you haven’t already – you need a Blog.
3) Feed off others – if you like someone else’s content – share it. Using RSS feeds you can hook your efforts and in with their’s – they’ll get most of the credit though, but some of it will rub off onto you.
4) If you can ask for FEEDBACK everywhere on anything… Products in an eCommerce store, Reviews on Blog Posts, Comments – anything to get feedback.
5) Allow others to join in… republish their feed back, if you get a testimonial, recommendation, photo – put it on your website…
6) Okay this one’s tricky – Get Gamified – basically it means make it fun… there’s no harm in the odd joke or two… it’s allowed – however serious your website is. The Web is a place to get peoples attention – too formal and you make it boring… I know lawyers that send out a Joke email every day – but you know what – they get remembered for it.
7) The Blog is now the heart of your website…. Think about it… no matter what the business your Blog is the central player – it provides the social hub, the most flexiblity for Video, Photos and Text, you can write about what you like and it is the ‘news’ centre for your website. Expand to incorporate a Wiki or Q&A forum and you have a powerful combination that can run along side the website.
That about sums up my views and you can see/tell that many of my previous Posts have been close on this track… it is the direction thing are moving in… please your thoughts are welcome.
