What can you do with a Big Budget Website
I thought this month I’d try and enlighten you with some ideas if you had the money.
The Internet has grown so substantially that spending some serious money on a big budget Website is not unrealistic; it can also be extremely beneficial. The key however is in the planning and in the knowing what you want to do.
1) Video – increasingly common, just look at what Skoda are doing, or Lego, or the Australian Submariners. Bringing video right to the heart of what you are offering, often in an abstract and off-pitch way, making a website sticky and fun to use. It’s the fun element that will bring people back time and time again.
2) Integration – I have promoted the use of Twitter, Facebook and the like – but integration can go much further than this, Mobile Phones, iPhones, Google Phones in short ‘Apps’ and useful widgets – over 3 billion Apps have been downloaded from Apple and they are not difficult to make, all you need is the seed of an idea.
3) Functionality – making your website useful, with demo’s, ideas, tips and instructions, getting user input from others and from other sources, functionality allows you to build a community of people, and that is the key element, the more you invest in your customers the more they will appreciate you, if you make things that are useful to people, so even better. Functionality is about building a community.
I am not sitting here saying you have to do these things, but they are open to you, the idea of the website is still in embolic form, in real terms we are just starting with the Internet as a whole and the investment you make today will dictate the size and future of your business tomorrow. It can be expensive and extremely hard work, but the pay-off is equally encouraging.
I’ll finish with a real life example: we’re running adverts on Facebook for a client, but we’re inviting people to ‘become a fan’ of our Facebook Page – we not even selling anything… but by building the profile on Facebook we’re building that community, inviting people to take part, as an incentive we giving a discount on the products, but most importantly of all we’re creating a completely new, interested and pre-qualified group of people that we can send updates on products to any time we like.
If you have ideas, or perhaps more importantly have money to spend on something ‘more’ than a website then please do call us and discuss. We have the ideas and can make them a reality.
