Coping with email (under pressure)

I reckon most clients are not like me at all… you get up, move about, go to meetings and generally spend a few hours in front of your computer compared to my 12/14 per day.
Obviously that does not apply to all of you, but the Farmers out there are not checking their email every 15 minutes and have real lives.
But – they still have to check their email, we all do and more and more we do it on the go on our phones. But there is nothing quite like sitting down at the start or end of the day and really clearing your inbox.
So some hints and tips for people with to much email:
- Make a special folder for things to do later – as the email comes in move the ‘do later’ jobs into this folder. This is your real Inbox.
- Check email as few times as possible in the day… Twice only if you can,but give yourself 30 minutes to do it. The problem with on the go, is that your attention is distracted with literally every email your read.
- Use the Three Rule – and try to reply with three sentences. If your email is long, seriously consider doing in it Word or on a document, then you’ll realise how silly you are being. Keep email short.
And so that should really be you lot from me… Other ideas welcome.
